HDC2TOG, or Decreasing for Half Double Crochet
Half double crochet two together, or hdc2tog, is the one of the ways in which a decrease can be achieved when working with half double crochet. What we are doing is working two stitches together so that they become one. It may sound tricky at first, but I promise that it's easy! With my video and photo tutorials, I think you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Begin the stitch as you would a normally would, by yarning over. Then insert your hook into the next stitch space. Yarn over and pull through. At this point you'll have three loops on the hook. Now insert your hook into the next stitch. Then yarn over and pull through again. Now you'll have four loops on the hook. Finally, yarn over and pull through the four remaining loops.
Each of the basic stitches has a unique way to be decreased. The general formula will remain the same. For more information about this stitch, see my page about half double crochet stitches.
