Sport Set Hat Pin for Free Crochet Pattern

I'm back with another Vintage Revival post! I just can't get enough of these. They're so fun to work on!

The original pattern, published in 1916, calls this hat a toque. Turns out that's just a fancy word for beanie. This hat has the most vintage flare of any of the patterns I've worked up so far AND I LOVE IT! Its square shape gives it a WWII vibe, despite it being published 20+ years before it started.

This set is warm and cozy, which makes it the perfect accessory set to keep you toasty while you're out playing in snow! It would also be a great Christmas gift.

The pattern for the scarf can be found here.

I used two skeins of "Caron, One Pound" and it is more than enough yarn to make both the hat and scarf! Score!

This hat pattern is easy with minimal shaping via increases in the first few rows.

    Attaching the Pieces

Find the seam on the beanie portion, this is the back of the hat. Place the band overtop of the beanie so that the seams are roughly aligned.

Both the band and the beanie will have a circumference of 72 sts. Align the sts. Put a few stitch markers throughout both pieces to make joining easier.

Using a long piece of the "Off White" yarn, sew both pieces together.
